STYLE FILE: THE DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE

Serving up flawless look after flawless look, the Duchess of Cambridge has expectant dressing down to a fine art. From casual and sporty to black tie at the Baftas, we show you how to get her look

The third Royal Baby is a matter of weeks away but until it arrives, and we can start to fawn over baby Windsor, we’re lucky enough to continue our obsession with Kate Middleton and her sartorial maternity choices. While most of us interpret maternity wear as sneakers, jeans, and oversized sweaters, Kate is often seen in heels and gowns for all three trimesters, selflessly giving us inspiration of which we have rounded up to give you the best ‘get the look’ pieces from Nine In The Mirror.

Kate chose royal blue hues for these two events (inevitably leading many to suspect she’s carrying a boy). For a hospital visit as the new Patron of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists she wore custom Jenny Packham. This Valentino Silk Contrasting Cape Dress is a timeless silhouette for pregnancy. The piece is cut for a fluid finish and is perfect for your own formal event or occasion.

SportsAid

Kate is the master of polished-casual and with these wearable Manoush and J Brand piece you will be too. While attending a Sports Aid event in March she paired a simple skinny back jean with a cream coat and a printed blouse for a flash of detail. Recreate this look with the bouquet detail Manoush coat with gold trim and classic J Brand jeans and a plain white t-shirt or blouse.

School

Slightly more dressed up than we might be for the school run, Kate met the young students of Pegasus Primary School in a knee-length cream coat and suede pumps. A twist on this classic look is Paul & Joe’s Mistigry Embroidered Collar Dress. Cut from jacquard fabric, the puff sleeves and jeweled collar are added details that make this dress a day and year-round staple.

Baftas

Perhaps one of her most highly-anticipated looks this season, Kate went with a bottle-green Jenny Peckham gown for the BAFTAS in February . Belted above the bump, Kate’s look was the ultimate in not-maternity expectant dressing. This Kalita Andromeda is a near perfect match with a removeable belt and adjustable neckline. Tied up at the neck, the look is more conservative but undone, the look becomes more Grecian and creates a v-neck that works well with drop-jewel or layered necklaces – just like Kate.
