Steal-worthy look from New York Fashion Week’s beauties with bumps
September is a strange month for weather in New York. It’s supposed to be cooling down but some days can feel like the height of summer while others see bucketloads of rain. With the fashion set flocking to the city for New York Fashion Week, we take inspiration from them in what to wear in this in-between weather. There’s an age-old rule that one shouldn’t wear white after Labour Day so expect to see some rule-bending creams and neutral tones.
Damsel in Dior’s Jacey Duprie has just announced her pregnancy and given us even more streetstyle inspiration. Midi dresses in golds and browns is a perfect autumnal piece paired with sandals, heels, or even trainers.
LAID-BACK POWER SUIT
Before the baby arrives and a full white or cream outfit is entirely off-limits, embrace a monochrome ensemble a la Lily Aldridge and let your accessories do the talking. Or, swap out the cream blazer for a classic check. Pair with a sandal in a bold hue.
Bare legs are still an option in September so use this time to make your coats and jackets a statement without being lost in the rest of your look. Wear over mini dresses, skirts, or shorts and with chunky boots.
A-LINE MINIS AND CHUNKY KNITS
Mini dresses and chunky knits may sound oxymoronic but draping something warm around your shoulders can be enough to keep the chill at bay while not fully succumbing to a wintry wardrobe. Wear with a smart flat and stacked bangles.
